“It takes 21 days to build a habit” maybe this is a statement you have heard before. So why can it be that after 21 days we still want to skip the gym and reach for that chip bag. Its because we are human, that would be the easiest way. We are wired to want to take the path of least resistance. BUT we aren’t choosing that, that leads to unhealthy mind and body. So 21 days habits are formed, its easier to eat healthy now and the gym is routine. We can’t beat ourselves up on a day or two, we break new habit and slide away from it. You have been building the habit of consistency, so when we eat a burger or drive past the gym, we know that its right back to it tomorrow. We have been building those new habits to be a foundation, we know that one slip isn’t going to define us but that we are right back to our plan and workout tomorrow! We reinforce these new positive habits with the way we feel after eating good and working out. Our minds feel sharper, our bodies feel more energized, we sleep better, we are just a little happier in general. We start to see a difference in the mirror, the scale, or how we are getting better at lifts and benchmark workouts. The process isn’t fast but we see the little positive incentives of our hard work. Working on turning the habit of eating healthy and working out with friends into a lifestyle, so when we do miss the gym or eat the ice cream, we jump right back into our life, our best life the next day!
Remember: Motivation gets you started, but Habit will keep you going!
Have an awesome week!!
